Always Positive, Sometimes Right

As I have remarked in the past, then best, surest and quickest ways to increase page views of and comments to an article is to write on a few hot-button topics: religious icons on public land, laws restricting abortion or same-sex marriage and the right to bear arms.

Those of us who are addicts of talk radio can attest to a few examples of the consistency of the more hysterical hosts in their absolute and unconditional hatred of Barack Obama.  There is and has been commentary in the moderate and rational media that the basis for this hate is racial in origin and, there is some support for this position.

 On August 4, 2007, two Egyptian University of South Florida students, Ahmed Abdellatif Sherif Mohamed and Youssef Samir Megahed, were stopped for speeding in Goose Creek, South Carolina.  They were arrested and held in the Berkeley County jail after police found what the authorities said were PVC pipes, fuses, and other materials that could have been combined with gasoline to build a destructive device.  Megahed’s attorney claimed that the articles in the car trunk were no more dangerous than a road flare. Next week, Jews throughout the world will be celebrating Passover, a holiday for recalling the delivery of their ancestors from Egyptian slavery some 4000 years ago.  At the Passover dinner, the Seder, the story is told through ritual prayers, songs and special foods.  I have often felt that the traditional way of explaining the holiday was sometimes difficult for children to understand.
